Despite the intense 96-degree heat, the young golfers at CommonGround Golf Course displayed remarkable resilience and skill as they battled their way from the round of 32 to the sweet 16. The competition was fierce, and the matches provided plenty of drama and excitement.
The 2024 CGA State Junior Championship kicked off with an exhilarating first day of competition at the beautiful CommonGround Golf Course under the blazing sun. The field comprised 25 talented girls and 65 skilled boys who teed off in morning and afternoon waves.
After the completion of pod match play on Wednesday, the pod winners advanced to single elimination. The quarter-final and semi-final rounds will be played on Thursday and the 36-hole final will be played Friday at Lakewood Country Club.
Our overall 2024 CGA Women’s Team Stableford Champions are Karlin Hayes, Jill Wilcox, Molly Huntsman, and Karen Lesko, who triumphed with 113 stableford points, winning the tournament by a single point in a scorecard playoff!
Owen Ellis & Jeff Crosier (Flatirons GC Associate Club) took the title with a 10-under-par 206 total in the CGA Senior Four Ball at Black Bear Golf Club.
The top five teams after day one all played at Legacy RIdge. In first place, the defending champion team of Parker Edens & Jimmy Makloski shooting 11 under par.
On April 16th, Golf Day at the Capitol, spearheaded by the Colorado Golf Coalition and Coalition lobbyist Jennifer Cassell of Bowditch & Cassell Public Affairs, was a resounding success.
