By Gary Baines – 6/29/2020
Lynn Skallerud of Lone Tree Golf Club and Valerie Schulte of Littleton Golf Club teamed up to fire a net 4-under-par 68 on Monday and claim overall low-net honors at the 15th annual CGA Women’s Niblick Tournament, hosted by the Red Rocks Country Club in Morrison.
Skallerud and Schulte, competing in the first flight, chalked up eight net birdies as a team — with both players recording net birdies on No. 8 — seven net pars, two net bogeys and one net double bogey — which came on their final hole, No. 18. Schulte carded five net birdies and Skallerud four.
Two teams posted 69s to tie for second place in the overall low net competition: Linda Chameroy and Ro Troia of The Broadlands Golf Course (second flight) and Sandra Schnitzer of The Broadlands and Bunny Ambrose of Riverdale Golf Course (fourth flight).
Skallerud and Schulte recorded the low gross score regardless of flight, with a 14-over-par 86.
The better-ball stroke-play event was limited to golfers with handicaps between 18 and 36. The competition was divided into six flights, with 48 two-person teams competing on Monday.
