Meet the Bryants

A Q&A with with siblings Davis and Emma – 2 players to watch in the 2021 CGA Championship Season

Davis and Emma hail from what you might consider a ‘golf family’. The golf course is a place they’ve always considered home. The sibling set’s father, Matt, is the General Manager at Green Valley Ranch Golf Club, and mother, Julie, is the Executive Director of the Colorado Open Golf Foundation. Davis is currently a sophomore competing for Colorado State University while Emma is senior at Eaglecrest HS, committed to play for University of Denver next fall.

Q: Your family is very involved in golf–what’s your earliest memory of the game?

Emma: My earliest memory of the game golf is playing in the 10 and Under events all over metro Denver and my dad coming out to watch and videotape me. He was always encouraging and is one of the most important people to me when it comes to golf.

Davis: My earliest memory that I have of golf is when I played the Green Valley Ranch Par 3 Course at about 6 years old. I enjoyed hitting wedge shots and messing around up there with different clubs. I always thought the game was fun, being able to be outside all the time and having access to a great facility. I mainly remember just having a good time with my sister and friends between 6-10 years old.

Q: Tell us a little bit about your relationship with your brother on the golf course.

Emma: My brother and I are very close and as we’ve gotten older, we’ve been able to push each other to be better. He’s a great competitor, especially when it comes to short game competitions. Davis is always someone I can count on to give me criticism when needed, but also praise when needed. We enjoy each other’s company on the golf course and no matter how we are playing, we always have fun doing so.

Davis: My sister and I are super close and have had a great relationship on the golf course. She and I are constantly practicing together when we have the opportunity to do so with multiple practice games and competitions to challenge the other person to get better. It is such a great time to play and practice together and I am really thankful that we have such a tight bond.

Q: What has been your proudest golf accomplishment/moment?

Emma: My proudest golf accomplishment was winning the CHSAA 5A Girls Golf State Championship my freshman year. I learned a lot about myself and realized that I can do whatever I put my mind to.

Davis: One of the proudest golf accomplishments for me was being named an All-American my Sophomore of College here at CSU. Unfortunately, our season got cut due to COVID-19, but the team and I had a special season going and I was honored to bring that award back to Fort Collins!

Q: What tournament(s)/event(s) are you most looking forward to this year?

Emma: Some tournaments that I’m looking forward to most are the Colorado Women’s Open, U.S. Girls’ Junior Qualifier (in hopes to make it to the national event), the AJGA at Walnut Creek Golf Preserve, and hopefully being a part of the Girls Junior America’s Cup team.

Davis: I have a few really good tournaments lined up for this summer. I am most looking forward to competing in the Southern Amateur in Missouri this summer and continue to test my game against the best players in the country!
