2024 CGA Women’s Stroke Play champ Ashley Kozlowski makes birdie in playoff to earn spot in match play at U.S. Women’s Amateur

By Gary Baines – 8/6/2025

A year ago, competing in her first U.S. Women’s Amateur, Ashley Kozlowski came agonizingly close to advancing to match play at the national championship, ending up a stroke out of a playoff for the final spots in the 64-golfer match-play bracket.

This week, in her return trip to the Women’s Am, Kozlowski was happy to put herself on the other side of the cut line. The former Littleton resident, winner of the 2024 CGA Women’s Stroke Play, birdied her 36th and final hole in stroke play on Tuesday, which ended up putting her in a playoff at the Bandon Golf Resort in Oregon.

Then on Wednesday morning, Kozlowski birdied the first extra hole to become one of six players out of a playoff field of 15 to advance to the match-play portion of the event. She’ll tee it up in the round of 64 against Canadian Vanessa Borovilos, a Texas A&M golfer, at 2:50 p.m. (MT) on Wednesday.

The Purdue graduate, who now resides in Florida, posted rounds of 71-74 for a 1-over-par total, which left her in a tie for 59th place out of the U.S. Women’s Am field of 156. And then Wednesday morning’s playoff birdie extended her stay at the championship.

Over the two rounds of stroke play, Kozlowski made seven birdies, one bogey, two double bogeys and a triple bogey. All of her over-par holes were par-3s, including a double bogey and a triple bogey on Tuesday.

Also in Wednesday’s playoff was 2025 CGA Women’s Match Play champion Rylee Salome of New Mexico, but she failed to advance, making pars on all four of the playoff holes she played.
