John Hornbeck LEADS Super-Senior Amateur Championship AFTER DAY ONE

John Hornbeck of Central Rockies e-Club fired a 1-under-par 70 to earn a two-shot lead in the Super Senior Division after the first day of the 2023 CGA Super-Senior Amateur Championship.

Hornbeck’s performance comes just a few short weeks after qualifying for this year’s U.S. Senior Amateur, which will be held at Martis Camp Club in Truckee, California later this month.

Behind him is Adam Kugler of Clubs at Cordillera, concluding day one at 1-over-par 71.

Perhaps the most noteworthy moment of the morning at Pueblo Country Club came when Rick George of Castle Pines Golf Club notched a hole-in-one on hole six. George is currently tied for fifth place, shooting 5-over-par 76.

As for the Masters Division, Sean Forey of Bear Creek Golf Club leads thanks to his 2-over-par 73 performance. In second place is Tom Warren of Collindale Golf Club, who wrapped up the round at 5-over-par 76.

Under the tournament’s format, competitors play in either the “Super-Senior Division” for those 65 and older or the “Masters Division” for players 70 and older. A player 70 and older can play in either division, but each is played from a different set of tees, so participants may only participate in one.

The golfers will again tee off for the final round tomorrow at Pueblo Country Club.
