The team of Kelly McCormick (Centennial) and Jolene Wong (Highlands Ranch) earned a come-from-behind victory in the final match of the CGA Women’s Mashie Championship at RainDance National. McCormick and Wong defeated Lisa Arndt (Broomfield) and Kathleen Johnson (Arvada) 2 & 1 in the Championship Flight final match with a strong finish on the match’s final 4 holes. With Arndt and Johnson leading 2UP after the 13th hole, McCormick and Wong won the ensuing 4 holes with 3 birdies (and a par) – clinching the 2 & 1 victory with a birdie on the par-3 17th. The victory is the team’s first CGA championship title.

McCormick and Wong narrowly defeated Kathy Malpass (Evergreen) and Beverly Hoffenberg (Littleton) 1UP in the semi-finals to earn their shot at the title. Arndt and Johnson earned their spot in the final match by ousting Sandy Bickel (La Porte) and Cindy Snow (Parker) 4 & 3 in their semi-final match.

The Mashie Championship was held June 2-4 at both RainDance National and Boomerang Links GC. The format is 4- Ball Matchplay – Partners play their best ball against the better ball of the other team. All teams play each course the first two days, with final matches for the day two winners being played at RainDance National.
