Colorado Christian University men’s golf team caps big-time late spring run with Mark Hull earning national DII coach of the year award, Adam Duncan being named DII national golfer of the year, and Duncan competing in the Palmer Cup

It’s been a busy — and award-filled — last week and a half for the Colorado Christian University men’s golf team, which came a whisker short of repeating as NCAA men’s Division II national golf champions last month.
Among the highlights were senior Adam Duncan becoming the first CCU golfer to earn the NCAA Division II Jack Nicklaus Award, given to the DII Golfer of the Year, and longtime Colorado Christian coach Mark Hull being named the Dave Williams National Coach of the Year for Division II by the Golf Coaches Association of America. The coaching award will be presented Dec. 9-11 at the GCAA National Convention.
And things wrapped up Thursday through Saturday with Duncan, a golfer from Bakersfield, Calif., becoming the lone non-NCAA Division I men’s player competing for the U.S. team that faced the Internationals at the 2025 Arnold Palmer Cup, a college version of the Ryder Cup. Competing in Ridgeland, S.C., Duncan went 0-3-1 as the International team defeated the Americans 35-25. Luke Poulter, son of Ryder Cup standout Ian Poulter, defeated Duncan in Saturday’s singles match, 4 and 3.
During the college season, Duncan claimed four individual titles and seven top-3 finishes. His season-long stroke average was a sterling 68.69 and he was ranked No. 1 in DII nationally. Earlier, he was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Male Golfer of the Year for the second straight season. He was also a Nicklaus Award finalist in 2024.
CCU, coached by Hull since 2005, put together one of the best seasons ever in DII men’s golf, winning 10 of 12 tournaments and losing to just one DII team all season — that being West Florida in the NCAA DII national title match, which was decided in a playoff. The only other team that beat the Cougars in the 2024-25 campaign was Division I UNC Charlotte in the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate in February. CCU won the national DII men’s golf title in 2024 and finished runner-up this season.
