A lively group of players came out to participate in the 2025 CGA Women’s Hickory Tournament at South Suburban Golf Course on Thursday, August 14. In this format, players with handicaps ranging from 18-36 compete in 18 holes of individual stroke play – all competitors are pre-flighted by Playing Handicap with awards going to Overall Low Gross and Low Net winners.

The tournament’s Overall Low Gross winner was Kristina McGinnis, with a score of 86 (+14). Kay Boyle, the Overall Low Net winner, upgraded from her finish in the 2024 Hickory Tournament as gross Fourth Flight winner and secured her win as this year’s Overall Net winner with a score of 62 (-10).
Other Gross Winners include Doreen Tallman for the first flight, with a score of 87 (+15), Liz Sanchez of the second flight also with a score of 87 (+15), Judy Witt, who won the third flight in the net division last year, won the third flight in this year’s gross division with a score of 95 (+23), and Marcy Greene finished a top the leaderboard for the fourth flight with a score of 101 (+29).

Always a fun event, many of the golfers remarked that they had a blast playing in this tournament, and one player, Susan Fornoff, was quoted saying that she loves this event and that the team did an amazing job picking the yardages and hole locations. She thought that the total yardage (5281) would be too long for the higher handicappers, but it was a perfect distance.
