Former Fort Collins golfer Drew Stoltz advances to match play at U.S. Amateur Four-Ball with partner Drew Kittleson for fourth straight year

By Gary Baines – 5/18/2025

Former Fort Collins resident Drew Stoltz and his fellow reinstated amateur Drew Kittleson seem to have this down pat.

The Scottsdale, Ariz., golfers have paired up for the last four U.S. Amateur Four-Balls, and four times they’ve advanced to match play in the event. That’s saying something considering the championship features a field of 128 teams, and only the top 32 make match play.

This time around, the two Drews tied for 10th place after Sunday’s second round of the Four-Ball in Edison, N.J., marking their third top-10 showing in stroke play in the last four Four-Balls.

Overall at the event, they’ve shined also, finishing runner-up in both 2022 and ’23, before falling in the round of 32 last year to Colorado college players Hunter Swanson and Max Lange.

This weekend, Stoltz and Kittleson posted rounds of 69-67 to finish stroke play at  4 under par despite making three better-ball bogeys in the two rounds. They also carded an eagle (by Kittleson) and five birdies.

Stoltz was a standout amateur in Colorado as a young man, winning the 2004 CGA Amateur and the 2001 5A state high school individual title in Colorado.

Nowadays, Stoltz is a co-host of “Gravy and the Sleeze” on Sirius XM’s PGA Tour Radio and of the “Golf Subpar” podcast  with Colt Knost, a former PGA Tour player and now an on-course analyst at CBS. Kittleson was the runner-up in the 2008 U.S. Amateur, and was a college teammate  — at Florida State — of Brooks Koepka, now a five-time major champion.

Here are the results for the teams with strong Colorado ties at the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball in Edison, N.J.:
