Former Colorado Christian University golfer Sangha Park and ex-northern Colorado resident Dan Erickson advance to stage 2 of Q-school; meanwhile, Aurora’s Davis Bryant opts to focus on European-based tours

Another two golfers with significant Colorado ties have punched their tickets to the second stage of PGA Tour/Korn Ferry Tour Q-school.
Former Colorado Christian University golfer Sangha Park and former northern Colorado resident Dan Erickson advanced through the First Stage of Q-school on Friday.
With the top 18 finishers and ties at a First Stage tournament in Lipan, Texas moving on, Park earned medalist honors at the site, while Erickson made it through on the number by tying for 16th place.
Five Second Stage tournaments are set for Dec. 2-5. For those who advance from there, the Final Stage of Q-school is scheduled for Dec. 11-14 at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. The top five finishers in the Final Stage will earn 2026 PGA Tour cards. The rest of the top 40 and ties will land some exempt status on the Korn Ferry Tour for next year, while the remaining finishers will have conditional KFT status.
Park posted rounds of 68-67-67-64 for an 18-under-par total in Texas, where he prevailed out of a 76-man field. Park made two eagles, five birdies and two bogeys on Friday. As for Erickson, a regular on the DP World Tour this year, he carded scores of 66-72-69-68 to check in at 9 under par. He went 4 under for his final 10 holes to just make the grade.
Park and Erickson will join six other “locals” who advanced to Stage 2 earlier in the month: former Littleton resident Chris Korte, Griffin Barela of Lakewood, Jake Staiano of Englewood, former University of Colorado golfer Justin Biwer, former University of Denver golfer John Sand and ex-Colorado State player Gunnar Brown.
Meanwhile, normally it might be considered a no-brainer for an up-and-coming player such as Davis Bryant of Aurora to be competing in PGA Tour/Korn Ferry Tour Q-school this time of year.
But that’s not how this fall is playing out for the 2024 Inspirato Colorado Open champion.
Bryant said recently that he withdrew last weekend from the Q-school event that concluded Friday in Henryville, Ind. The reason?
Because it’s likely he’ll be competing in a DP World Tour event in Australia in late November and early December — the first tournaments of the 2025-26 season. And that conflicts with the Second Stage of PGA Tour Q-school. So, even if he had advanced through First Stage this week, he’d likely have had to withdraw from Second Stage, which runs from Dec. 2-5.
Bryant still has opportunities to improve his DP World Tour status for the 2025-26 season — through the HotelPlanner Tour or DP World Tour qualifying. But as things stands now, he anticipates getting 6-8 DPWT starts for next season to go along with HotelPlanner status. So he’s opted to keep his focus on the European-based circuits.
“I’ve enjoyed it and I’ve learned a lot,” said Bryant, who stands 122nd on the DP World Tour rankings for 2024-25. He’s recorded two top-10 finishes on the circuit.
