Timbre Shehee of Mead and UNC finishes runner-up in Oklahoma, marking the best college showing of her career; fellow Coloradan Logan Hale of DU also records a top-10 on Tuesday

Timbre Shehee of Mead started out her senior season of college golf at the University of Northern Colorado in fine fashion on Tuesday by finishing second individually out of 63 players in The Lady Clerico in Bartlesville, Okla.

It was Sheree’s top individual showing as a collegian.

Shehee, who placed third in the CGA Women’s Stroke Play this year, recorded rounds of 72-67-71 for a 6-under-par total, which left her five strokes behind champion Ryann Honea of Abilene Christian.

Team-wise, UNC ended up third out of a dozen schools in the standings, finishing at 13 over par, 16 back of winner Southern Mississippi.

Other strong showings for players at Colorado-based Division I teams on Tuesday:

— Sophomore Logan Hale, a sophomore for the University of Denver from Erie, posted the second-best finish of her college career, tying for seventh in the Badger Invitational in Madison, Wis. The two-time state high school champ went 72-71-68 for a 5-under-par total, which left her four strokes behind winner Alexis Myers of Illinois.

Junior Kara Kaneshiro from Colorado State (73-71-72) also notched a top-10 at the Badger, placing 10th at even par. 

In the team standings, DU finished eighth out of 14 schools, while CSU was 10th.

SCORES

— Senior Cooper Tate from Northern Colorado finished solo second individually out of 71 players in the Bluejay Invitational in Omaha. Cooper rebounded from a first-round 74 with a 66 and a 68 to end up at 8 under par, one stroke behind champion Grant Feldman of Creighton. Cooper made four eagles during the tournament.

Team-wise, UNC placed eighth out of 11 schools.
