Denver, Colo. — April 17, 2025
The sun rose over the golden dome of the Colorado State Capitol as representatives from all corners of the golf industry gathered for the 2025 Golf Day at the Capitol—a day dedicated to celebrating golf’s role in Colorado’s economy, environment, and communities. Hosted by the Colorado Golf Coalition, this year’s event brought together professionals from the Colorado Golf Association (CGA), the Colorado Section of the PGA, the Rocky Mountain Golf Course Superintendents Association, and the Mile High Chapter of the Club Management Association of America to connect directly with lawmakers and spotlight the game’s far-reaching influence.
“Golf is more than a pastime—it’s a powerhouse,” said Ed Mate, Executive Director of the CGA. “From job creation and youth programming to water conservation and community wellness, golf continues to contribute in ways that surprise even longtime fans of the game.”
Throughout the morning, industry leaders met with state senators and representatives to share data, personal stories, and highlight golf’s positive presence across Colorado. The group presented an updated report showing that the state’s golf industry generates over $1.3 billion in direct economic impact, supports more than 19,400 jobs, and preserves over 33,000 acres of green space across urban and rural communities alike. They also highlighted the impact of major golf events in the state, including the 2024 BMW Championship, which produced a total economic output of $114.7 million when it was held in Colorado—further underscoring the sport’s powerful role in driving tourism and economic activity.
The day also included a formal introduction in both legislative chambers, where coalition members were recognized for their dedication to growing the game responsibly and equitably. Several lawmakers spoke to the importance of golf in their own districts, not only as recreation but as economic and social infrastructure.
As golf in Colorado continues to grow—welcoming new players, embracing innovation, and deepening its environmental commitment—events like Golf Day at the Capitol ensure the industry’s voice is heard and respected.
