The 2025 CGA Dunham Chapman Championship hosted by Ironbridge Golf Club Tuesday, September 23 – Wednesday, September 24 in Glenwood Springs, CO, features 36 holes of Chapman stroke play by 60 teams.
Format: 36 holes of Chapman Stroke Play – Two players play as partners, each playing from the teeing ground and each playing their partner’s ball for the second shot. After the second shot, partners select the ball with which they wish to score, and play that ball alternately to complete the hole. Teams are pre-flighted according to their combined playing handicap with 8-12 teams per flight.
JoAnn Dunham: JoAnn was a long-time volunteer for CWGA. She served on the Board of Directors and was the Tournament Chair from 2004 through 2009. It was JoAnn who first proposed the idea of the Chapman Championship to the CWGA. JoAnn was adamant that the CWGA increase the number of events available to the members, especially the popular partner events. And in recognition of all the ladies who live outside the Front Range, Jo suggested holding the Chapman in the mountains. When Jo passed in 2016, the tournament committee thought it fitting to rename the Chapman in JoAnn’s honor, since after all, without her efforts, this tournament might not exist.
Day 2
The final round of the 2025 CGA Dunham Chapman brought more beautiful weather and a perfect setting to close out the week at Ironbridge. With the course again in pristine shape, players embraced the challenge and savored the fall colors lining the Roaring Fork Valley.
From start to finish, the day was filled with camaraderie, stories, and plenty of laughter echoing across the fairways. Competitors shared how special it was to play alongside family and friends, reinforcing that the Dunham Chapman is about more than just scores—it’s about the shared experience.
With mother-daughter, sister, and partner pairings spread throughout the field, the bonds were just as strong as the golf. One particularly special highlight came in the Fifth Flight, where Rochelle Tisdale claimed her 12th CGA glass—a remarkable achievement that added to the legacy of this championship.
As the last putts dropped, it was clear that the 2025 edition of this event was defined by joy, connection, and resilience on a challenging mountain track. The players couldn’t have asked for better conditions, better company, or a better way to spend two days in Glenwood Springs.
Adding to the atmosphere, competitor Sharon Thiel led a group yoga session, which brought players together off the course in the same spirit of camaraderie and fun. The images from the session captured the lighthearted energy of the event and provided yet another reminder that the Dunham Chapman is as much about connection as it is about competition.
At the top of the leaderboard, Janet Hopkins and Patricia Lopez of Lakewood, Colorado emerged as the Overall Gross Champions. The duo posted steady rounds of 73–81 for a two-day total of 154, outlasting the field on a demanding Ironbridge layout. Their victory added a fitting exclamation point to a championship defined by pristine golf, memorable stories, and lasting connections.

Day 1
The 2025 CGA Dunham Chapman teed off at the picturesque Ironbridge Golf Club in Glenwood Springs, with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start under clear fall skies. While much of Colorado saw unsettled weather, Ironbridge delivered perfect mountain golf conditions—crisp air, low-hanging clouds, and plenty of sunshine throughout the day.
The course, known for its pristine conditions and demanding layout, provided a stout test for the field. Players noted the challenge, but smiles, laughs, and even some stylish matching outfits lightened the mood. In true mountain-golf fashion, the day also brought an unforgettable moment when a snake nest was discovered on Hole 5—thankfully avoided without incident, but certainly a story the players won’t soon forget.
This year’s Dunham Chapman again highlighted the spirit of camaraderie and tradition, featuring sister pairings, partner/spouse duos, and mother-daughter teams. Among them were Lora and Sara Fioretti, fresh off winning the overall Net division at the 2025 CGA Parent-Child Championship just last weekend. The two returned to the mountains for more quality time together, proving they just couldn’t get enough of championship golf. The Fiorettis are no strangers to success in this event either, having captured the First Flight Gross title at last year’s championship.
Leading our Championship flight after Round 1, Janet Hopkins and Patricia Lopez of Lakewood, CO, fired a 1-over-par 73 to take the Gross lead, while Nikki Athey and Valerie Hunter of Colorado Springs, CO, posted a Net score of 5-under-par 67 to top the Net division.
