Coloradans Doug Rohrbaugh and Micah Rudosky making headway, but still have work to do to advance to final stage of Champions Q-school

By Gary Baines – 12/1/2021

Doug Rohrbaugh and Micah Rudosky are still on the outside looking in regarding “making the cut” in the PGA Tour Champions Q-school process, but the two Coloradans are gradually moving up the scoreboard.

Rohrbaugh, the golfer from Carbondale who has three times won the Colorado PGA Professional Championship, inched into 22nd place on Wednesday in the first stage of Champions Q-school in Winter Garden, Fla. And Rudosky, the reigning CPGA Professional Champion, jumped up to 26th in the 74-person field going into Thursday’s final round.

At least the top 18 finishers after four rounds will advance to the final stage of Q-school, set for Dec. 7-10 in Lutz, Fla. There, the top five performers will be exempt on the Champions circuit in 2022.

Rohrbaugh shot his second straight even-par 72, leaving him at 4-over-par 220 overall, 11 strokes behind leader Jeff Gove, a longtime PGA Tour regular. For the second consecutive day, Rohrbaugh carded three birdies and three bogeys.

Rudosky fired a 1-under 71 on Wednesday, making four birdies and three bogeys in the process. He stands at 5-over 221.

Through 54 holes, there are 18 players at 2 over par or better.

This week marks the third and final first-stage Q-school qualifier for PGA Tour Champions. Earlier, former Durango resident Tom Kalinowski punched his ticket to the final stage by tying for second in a qualifier in Nipton, Calif.

Here are the round-by-round scores for the Coloradans competing in Champions Q-school this week:

22. Doug Rohrbaugh of Carbondale 76-72-72—220

26. Micah Rudosky of Cortez 75-75-71–221
