Former CSU golfer Blake Cannon falls just short of mini-tour win, losing in a playoff

Former Colorado State University golfer Blake Cannon made an eagle and 10 birdies over two rounds, but came up just short of a victory this week on the SwingThought Tour as he fell in a playoff in Palo Alto, Calif.
The left-hander, who won the 2019 New Mexico Open, went 65-67 for an 8-under-par 132 total. A birdie on the 18th hole Thursday left him in a tie with Kolton Lapa and Ben Geyer, with Lapa prevailing in sudden death for the victory — his first as a pro — worth $14,050. Cannon and Geyer each earned $3,050 for sharing second place.
Former University of Colorado golfer Jeremy Paul (66-69—135) shared eighth place in the 19-man event with 2020 CoBank Colorado Open champion Mark Anuiano (68-67), while Jeremy’s twin brother Yannik Paul placed 10th (67-70–137).
