Our
Mission

The CGA exists to make golf, and all it offers, available to everyone. When you join the CGA, you become part of Colorado golf's rich history and its future. You'll connect with over a century of Colorado golf tradition and community.

The Founding of The CGA

The Colorado Golf Association was established in August 1915 to represent, promote, and serve the best interests of golf in Colorado. What began with a small group of founding clubs has grown into an organization serving nearly 100,000 golfers statewide.

CGA birth

Unified and Organized

In 1961, the CGA merged with the Denver District Golf Association to create one unified association dedicated to managing golf across Colorado. The following year, CGA was officially incorporated and began rating all of the state's golf courses and managing a statewide handicap system.

Expansion and Innovation

In 1984, CGA created the Colorado Junior Golf Association. In 1995, operations began at the former Lowry Air Force Base golf course, which became CommonGround in 2009. In 2012, the Colorado Golf Foundation was established through a $2 million gift to fund programs building character through golf.

Coming Together

On January 1, 2018, the CGA and Colorado Women's Golf Association (CWGA) merged after more than a century of separate operations. This historic union created one association serving all Colorado golfers, building on over 100 years of tradition while shaping the game's future.

The Legacy Continues With You

CGA's 100-year history of serving golf wouldn't be possible without members like you. Join the tradition and help us grow the game for generations to come.
