Nelson prevails by 3 for title in Denver Senior Men’s Amateur

David Nelson of Littleton led wire-to-wire this weekend in winning the 36-hole Denver Senior Men’s Amateur Sunday at Overland Park Golf Course.

Nelson posted rounds of 70-68 for a 6-under-par 138 total and a three-stroke victory. Over the two days, he posted eight birdies and two bogeys.

Robert Bulthaup of Centennial placed second at 141 (74-67), while Pat Bowe was third at 142 (72-70).

Several other prominent CGA senior players also finished in the top 10: Robert Polk and Victor Minovich (143, fourth); Thomas Roos (145, sixth); Gary Albrecht, Owen Ellis and Keith Atkins (146, seventh); and Sean Forey (147, tied for 10th with Bill Bolgar).

The Denver Men’s City Amateur is scheduled for Aug. 29-30 at City Park Golf Course, marking the first event at the newly redesigned layout.
