University of Colorado golfer Kirsty Hodgkins started off her senior season in fine fashion this week as the Australian finished second individually out of 65 players on Tuesday at the SMU Trinity Forest Invitation in Dallas.
Hodgkins (pictured), who was low amateur and finished seventh overall in the CoBank Colorado Women’s Open in the late spring, posted rounds of 67-71-72 in Dallas, good for a 6-under-par 210 total.
After making an eagle, 13 birdies and nine bogeys for the tournament, she ended up four strokes behind individual champion Sofia Garcia of Texas Tech, who closed with a 64.
It was the 10th top-10 individual finish of Hodgkins’ college career, which includes a win in the 2017 Couer D’Alene Collegiate.
As a team, CU placed fifth out of 11 teams in the season opener. Alisha Lau placed 20th individually (223), Malak Bouraeda 25th (224), Sophie Johnson 35th (228) and Kelsey Webster 44th (231).
