Jill McGill didn’t win the Senior LPGA Championship on Wednesday, but her seventh-place finish in French Lick, Ind., was a marked step up from her 23rd-place showing in 2018.
The Colorado Golf Hall of Famer closed with a round of 4-over-par 76 in cold conditions on Wednesday to finish at 5-over 221, seven back of champion Helen Alfredsson, who beat World Golf Hall of Famer and runner-up Juli Inkster by three. Alfredsson also won this year’s other senior women’s major, the U.S. Senior Women’s Open.
McGill, a 47-year-old Denver native and Colorado resident, followed up an opening-round 66 with scores of 79-76. McGill (pictured in an LPGA.com photo) birdied the first hole in the final round and carded five bogeys.
