With third straight top-11 finish on PGA Tour, Denver native Wyndham Clark will go into U.S. Open on a tear; former Buffs Jenny Coleman and Justin Biwer post top-5s on other tours

Who would have foreseen this a month ago …?
That arguably the hottest golfer in the world heading into next week’s U.S. Open is Denver native Wyndham Clark, who will be looking to capture that national championship trophy for the second time.
The Colorado Golf Hall of Famer had managed just two top-10 finishes in official PGA Tour events from mid-September 2024 to the mid-spring of 2026 — a span of 20 months.
But in his last three tournaments — all within the last month — Clark has proceeded to win the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, tie for third in the Memorial, and tie for 11th on Sunday at the RBC Canadian Open at TPC Toronto.
And had he not bogeyed the final hole in Canada from the back bunker, he would have had three straight top-10 finishes for the first time in his PGA Tour career.
As it is, Clark’s average score over those last dozen PGA Tour rounds is a stellar 66.7. That includes a round of 60, plus two 63s and a 65.
In Canada — where he drew some jeers from the fans on Sunday after playfully wearing a Jack Hughes USA Olympic hockey jersey at “the rink” hole during Saturday’s third round; Hughes helped lead the Americans past the Canadians for the gold medal in February — Clark struggled a bit on the final day. But with scores of 68-68-63-70, he still finished just six back of champion Bud Cauley.
Clark will go into the U.S. Open — set for Thursday through next Sunday at Shinnecock Hills in Southampton, N.Y. — with four PGA Tour wins to his credit.

Elsewhere on Sunday in high-level tour golf for players with strong Colorado connections:
— Former University of Colorado golfer Jenny Coleman matched her best Epson Tour finish since winning on the circuit in May 2023 by placing second on Sunday in the FireKeepers Casino Championship in Marshall, Mich.
The former LPGA Tour player posted scores of 70-67-70 for a 9-under-par total, ending up three strokes behind winner Lauryn Nguyen.
It was Coleman’s second top-10 Epson showing of the spring as she was ninth in the Copper Rock Championship last month.

— Former CU golfer Justin Biwer recorded his second top-10 of his rookie season on PGA Tour Americas as he tied for fifth on Sunday at the Inter Rapidisimo Golf Championship in Bogota, Colombia.
Biwer carded rounds of 66-67-70-70 for a 15-under-par total as fellow American Drew Doyle captured the title at 18 under.
Biwer ended up ninth in a PGA Tour Americas event in Ecuador last month.
