Former CU golfer Yannik Paul places third in 155-player field on All Pro Tour

Some mini-tour events feature very limited fields, numbering two or three dozen on occasion. But the just-completed All Pro Tour’s Supreme Lending Classic in Broken Arrow, Okla., certainly didn’t fall into that category. 

The tournament featured 155 players, so a top-three performance was no small feat. 

But that’s where former University of Colorado golfer Yannik Paul finished on Saturday after posting a stellar 72-hole total of 23-under-par 265, good for third place. The showing was worth $7,400.

The German posted scores of 67-66-65-67, ending up five strokes behind champion Derek Oland of Plano, Texas. For the week, Paul carded two eagles, 22 birdies and just three bogeys.

Paul’s twin brother Jeremy, also a former CU golfer, tied for 11th at 270 and earned $2,962.

Elsewhere on mini tours this past week for other players with strong Colorado connections:

— Former Coloradan Eric Hallberg tied for sixth out of 31 players on the Outlaw Tour’s Prizepicks Shootout in Scottsdale, Ariz., an event that ended on Wednesday. 

Hallberg went 70-70 for a 4-under-par 140 total, finishing five shots behind winner Sam Triplett of Paradise Valley, Ariz.

— Former CU player Brittany Fan placed sixth out of a 29-player field at a Cactus Tour event that ended on Wednesday in Scottsdale.

Fan carded a 6-under-par 210 total after rounds of 66-73-71. Mina Harigae of Monterey, Calif., ran away with the title at 192 (63-66-63).
