Coloradans Korte, Mason join former CSU golfer Yates in notching top-5 finishes on Outlaw Tour

By Gary Baines - 5/22/2020

Two Coloradans — Chris Korte of Littleton and Nick Mason of Parker — joined former Colorado State University golfer Colton Yates in posting top-five finishes in an 81-man field Thursday at the Outlaw Tour’s TPC Champions Classic in Scottsdale, Ariz.

All three of the players with strong Colorado ties shared fifth place and ended up two strokes out of a playoff that was won by Barry Enright of Scottsdale. The three each made $2,030.

Mason has notched top-five finishes in each of his three Outlaw Tour starts in 2020. This week, he carded scores of 69-68-70 for a 6-under-par 207 total. He made 11 birdies for the week.

Korte, winner of two CGA major championships and a former University of Denver golfer, went 68-69-70 for his 207, which gave him his second top-five showing of the 2020 Outlaw season. Korte recorded two eagles and 10 birdies over the three rounds.

Yates posted scores of 72-65-70 in recording his third top-10 finish in three Outlaw events in 2020. He made 17 birdies for the week.
