2 aces in 5 holes for Colorado Golf Hall of Famer Jon Lindstrom: ‘It’s no big deal. I was aiming at the hole.’

Coloradan Jon Lindstrom and his buddies, who are on a golf trip at Cabot Cape Breton in Nova Scotia, Canada, arrived a little late for their warm-up round Wednesday morning at The Nest, the 11-hole par-3 course at the resort. So there wasn’t time to hit practice balls.

But who needs practice?

Lindstrom, a 2025 Colorado Golf Hall of Fame inductee, certainly didn’t on this day. On his first swing of the day — from 98 yards with a sand wedge — his ball found the bottom of the cup for a hole-in-one.

If that wasn’t enough of a feat, the second-place finisher at the 2020 Colorado Senior Open doubled up on hole No. 5 by recording ace No. 2 for this day. This one was a little longer — 135 yards with a 9-iron.

Three very accomplished fellow golfers were along for the ride — teaching professional Jason Preeo, who made the cut in the 2010 U.S. Open; and amateurs Brooks Ferring and Alex Buecking.

Lindstrom recounted by text to Colorado Golf Journal how Ferring reacted after the second ace: “Now no one is going to believe us!”

Indeed, though it’s not immediately clear how playing a par-3 course might alter the figures, according to the National Hole-in-One Registry, the odds of one player making two holes-in-one in the same round are 67 million to 1.

“I told the guy in the pro shop afterwards, ‘It’s no big deal. I was aiming at the hole,’” Lindstrom noted via text.

By the way, Lindstrom was carrying just four clubs for the warm-up round: 7-iron, 9-iron, sand wedge and putter.

Lindstrom said he isn’t certain if holes-in-one on a par-3 course count, but if they do, these would be the 15th and 16th aces of his life.

The smooth-swinging Lindstrom, who plays out of Lakewood Country Club, is no stranger to impressive accomplishments on the golf course. Outside the state, he’s won the 2023 Trans-Mississippi Senior Championship and the 2024 Golfweek Senior Division National Championship, and he’s placed ninth and 11th at the British Senior Amateur.

In Colorado, the former Washington State University golfer has captured three CGA Mid-Amateur titles and swept the association’s senior majors in 2023, among many other wins. And he’s been low amateur at the Colorado Senior Open four times, including placing second in a playoff six years ago.
