Golf Day at the Capitol

Golf Day at the Capitol

Golf Day at the Capitol was a hit on April 12, which was led by the Colorado Golf Coalition and Coalition lobbyist Jennifer Cassell of Bowditch & Cassell Public Affairs. Golf Day at the Capitol is an annual event held at Colorado State Capitol to engage with legislators prior to the start of the day’s legislative session and thank them for their support of the golf industry within the state. Following breakfast, the Colorado Golf Coalition was recognized on the floor of the Senate session for the benefits the golf industry provides.

The Colorado Golf Coalition is made up of the Colorado Golf Association, Colorado Section of the PGA, Golf Course Superintendents Association of America – Rocky Mountain Chapter, and Club Management Association of America – Mile High Chapter. The coalition shared with legislators a comprehensive report produced by the coalition on the economic and environmental impacts of golf in Colorado, and some highlights included:

  • More than $1.2 billion of direct impact generated by the Colorado golf industry and $2.0 billion of combined direct & indirect and induced impact to the State’s economy.
  • 1,960 charitable golf events raised $35.6 million for Colorado charities in 2019
  • 96.6% of golf courses have at least three or more Water Conservation measures in place with 71.6% having five or more
  • Colorado golf provides 33,061 acres of greenspace.

The Colorado Golf Coalition would like to thank the legislators for joining this morning and learning more about the economic and environmental impacts of golf in the state.  Read the results of the report at www.coloradogolfimpact.org
