Former CU golfer Jenny Coleman wins for first time on Epson Tour, prevailing in a playoff

By Gary Baines - 5/21/2023

It took a while — OK, a long while — but former University of Colorado golfer Jenny Coleman finally can say she’s a champion on the Epson Tour, the feeder tour for the LPGA circuit.

Coleman had come close to a win so many times on the Epson Tour. She’s finished runner-up on four occasions — including once three weeks ago — and third four times.

But on Sunday, she broke through, prevailing in a three-person playoff between the 36-hole co-leaders in the IOA Golf Classic in Longwood, Fla. Round 3 was canceled due to heavy rains and unplayable course conditions, but Coleman won with a 5-foot birdie in sudden death, which lasted one hole. Also in the playoff were Dottie Ardina and Sophie Hausman.

Coleman — who played regularly on the LPGA Tour in 2017 and 2020-22, with a best finish of third place — posted scores of 67-65 at the IOA, finishing at 10 under par. She made 13 birdies combined in regulation in the two rounds.

The victory was worth $30,000 for the former Buff golfer, who also was involved in a playoff three weeks ago at the Copper Rock Championship in Hurricane, Utah.
