Strong Finish
5/14/2025 The team of Kelly McCormick (Centennial) and Jolene Wong (Highlands Ranch) earned a come-from-behind victory in the final match of the CGA
If 2026 were the year to rename the CGA Mashie Championship, then the frontrunner would be the "Kelly" Mashie Championship! Kelly Green (Denver) and Kelly Schaub (Scottsdale) defeated Jolene Wong (Highlands Ranch) and Sydney Wrench (Denver) 3 & 2 in the final match.
Although the match started strongly for Wong and Wrench, going one up right out of the gate, it then became a tied match until the fourteenth hole. That is when Green and Schaub kicked it into overdrive. By hole 16, the duo was 3 up, ending the match.
The road to the finals looked similar for the finalist teams, as Green and Schaub defeated Beverly Hoffenberg (Littleton) and Kathy Malpass (Evergreen) 7 & 5, while Wong and Wrench defeated Nancy Werkmeister (Wheat Ridge) and Patricia Lopez (Lakewood) 4 & 3.
The Mashie Championship was held May 26-28 at The Olde Course at Loveland. The format is 4-Ball Matchplay – Partners play their best ball against the other team's better ball.
