Colorado ‘Golf Day’ Made Official

“A tradition like no other…” and no, I am not talking about The Masters.  The tradition I am referring to here is the Colorado Golf Coalition’s annual Golf Day held today at the Colorado State Capitol.  Organized by Colorado Golf Coalition lobbyist, Jennifer Cassell, the Coalition’s four-member organizations—the CGA, Colorado Section of the PGA, Rocky Mountain Golf Course Superintendent’s Association and the Mile High Chapter of the Club Managers Association met with lawmakers to share all of the great contributions the golf industry makes to the quality of life in Colorado.

Joining the four member organizations was the local affiliate of the National Golf Course Owners Association as well as representation from Colorado’s only annual PGA Tour event—the Ascendent Presented by Blue at TPC Colorado in Berthoud.

The day was punctuated by the reading of an official Proclamation from Governor Polis declaring today, Wednesday, April 12, 2023, Golf Day in the State of Colorado.  The Proclamation was read on both the House and Senate floors and highlighted the economic, environmental, social, and charitable impacts golf has on the State.

Golf Day is held annually on the Wednesday following The Masters.  While not as well known as The Masters—The Tradition is just as important to those of us who love golf.

Golf industry leaders from across the Centennial State talk with lawmakers every spring to discuss the opportunities and benefits the sport presents, from economic to social impact.

In addition to Smith, Executive Director Ed Mate and Chief Marketing Officer Erin Gangloff were among those representing the CGA.
One of the many lawmakers who took an interest in the event festivities was State House Rep. Lisa Frizell of District 45.

The Rocky Mountain Golf Course Superintendents Association and the National Golf Course Owners Association were in attendance to speak with both fellow golf enthusiasts and lawmakers.
