With new title sponsor, Korn Ferry Tour stop at TPC Colorado will now be known as The Blue Championship
By Gary Baines – 11/18/2025
The course for Colorado’s Korn Ferry Tour stop will be the same. And the date slot for the event on the KFT schedule will remain unchanged.
But for the second time in its history — which dates back to 2019 — the tournament has undergone a name change as a new title sponsor has come aboard.
So as the 2026 Korn Ferry Tour schedule was released on Tuesday, the event at TPC Colorado in Berthoud now is called The Blue Championship. Blue Federal Credit Union, the presenting sponsor the last four years for the tournament — when it was known as The Ascendant presented by Blue — has transitioned into the title sponsorship role.
The tournament will remain in the same basic spot on the schedule as the The Blue Championship in 2026 is scheduled for July 9-12, with no KFT events the week before and after the Colorado stop. Like this year, the purse has been set at $1 million, with $180,000 going to the winner.
For its first three years — from 2019 through 2021 — the Colorado Korn Ferry Tour stop was known as the TPC Colorado Championship at Heron Lakes. From 2022 through this year, its title was The Ascendant presented by Blue.
2026 will mark the eighth consecutive year the tournament has concluded in early to mid-July — and the fourth straight to wrap up in the July 12-16 range.
Arguably the two most notable champions of the event — from a name recognition standpoint — have been Will Zalatoris (2020) and Neal Shipley (2025).
During its time as The Ascendant, the event at TPC Colorado was twice named the Korn Ferry Tour Tournament of the Year — in 2021 and ’23.
The Korn Ferry Tour, now in its 36th season after numerous name changes, serves as the primary pathway for reaching the PGA Tour. The 2026 KFT schedule features 25 tournaments, including the four-event KFT playoffs. The top 20 players from the 2026 points list following the Korn Ferry Tour Championship will earn 2027 PGA Tour cards.
