The Difference A Year Makes

One year after nearly finishing last, Kennedy/Fitzsimmons WGA wins their first CGA Women’s Club Team title

CASTLE ROCK – What a difference a year makes. in 2024, the team from Kennedy / Fitzsimmons WGA finished 29th out of 30 teams at the event held at Hiwan GC.

This year, it was a little different story.

On Wednesday, 30 Women’s Club teams from across the state converged on Red Hawk Ridge Golf Course for the CGA Women’s Club Team Championship- including the defending champion club Colorado Golf Club. When the smoke cleared on this perfect Fall day, is was the Kennedy / Fitzsimmons team were sitting on top of the leaderboard by a solid 6 strokes. The team, which featured two new players (Jisung Kang and Kyong Ja Oh) and two returning players (Young Choi and Son Y Ji), finished at +51. Coming in at +57 was Riverdale WGA to take second place.

The Kennedy / Fitzsimmons WGA team were poised for victory (Ja Oh, Y Ji, Choi, Kang)

Colorado Springs CC LGA-18 took 3rd, nudging home course favorites Red Hawk Ridge Ladies Club who finished 4th, just 8 strokes behind the winners.

The tournament featured an ABCD Team Stroke Play format, where the gross score of all four team members was combined to determine the overall team score.
