Player of the Year Policies & Points Allocation

Club Hosted Events – Eligible for CGA Points

CGA players may earn CGA Player of the Year points through a top finish at certain club hosted events throughout Colorado or at events of national prominence. If a local club is hosting an event and would like to receive CGA points they must apply prior the event taking place via the following form and meet the criteria below. Points will not be awarded if the following form is not completed prior to the event. For questions regarding club hosted events and points, please email Leo at lbruni@coloradogolf.org

  1. The event must be hosted by a CGA member facility in Colorado
  2. The event must be open to non-members of the club.
  3. The event must be a minimum of 36 holes
    • If the event is shortened to less than 36 holes, points awarded will be reduced by 50%
  4. The tournament cannot overlap with any dates for CGA major championships. If an overlap occurs, the outside event must be farther than 50 miles from the CGA Major Championship taking place. Exceptions may be granted by the CGA Points Sub-Committee.
  5. If the event is flighted, it must have a minimum of 16 players competing in the championship flight, which should be selected within reason (HI of 7.0 and below, etc.). This holds true for the senior championship flight if an event is seeking to get separate points for the seniors.
    • If a flight has less than 16 players, points awarded will be reduced by 50%
  6. All players within the event must have a verifiable and active USGA Handicap Index; only CGA members are eligible to receive points.
  7. If a club-hosted event draws participants from multiple states there must be at least 8 CGA members competing in the Championship flight. All participants who are not residents of Colorado must have a verifiable USGA Handicap Index through their state or regional golf association. Points are only awarded to CGA members.
  8. Complete results from the championship flight must be returned to include players name, GHIN number, and scores to the CGA offices no later than 1 week after completion of the tournament. Please email results to Leo at lbruni@coloradogolf.org.
  9. Credit for merchandise (if any) must be extended at least 30 days from the completion of the event and the value of such awards may not exceed the limit of $1000 as set forth in the USGA Rules of Amateur Status.
