Lindsay Kuhle — Colorado native and former DU women’s golf head coach — leads KU to NCAA regional title; she’ll be taking a full team to national tourney for first time as a head coach
By Gary Baines – 5/7/2025
Lindsay Kuhle has coached at the women’s NCAA national championships before. For instance, she was an assistant coach/associate head coach for the University of Denver when the Pioneers took full teams to the national tournament three straight years starting in 2007. And, as a head coach, she’s coached individuals who have competed at nationals.
But on Wednesday, the Littleton native, 2005 CGA Women’s Stroke Play champion and former longtime DU coach managed a personal first. The Heritage High School graduate qualified a full team for the NCAA nationals for the first time in her 12-plus years as a college head coach.
In her fourth season at the University of Kansas after resigning as coach at DU in 2021, Kuhle led the Jayhawks to a team victory in the women’s NCAA Division I regional tournament in Columbus, Ohio. By finishing in the top five in Columbus, Kuhle’s Jayhawks earned one of the 30 team berths overall for the DI nationals, set for May 16-21 in Carlsbad, Calif.
It will mark just the third time in program history that the KU women have qualified a full team for the NCAA golf nationals, the previous instances coming in 1990 and 2014. In addition, the Jayhawks won a women’s golf NCAA regional tournament for the first time in program history.
With KU sophomore Lyla Louderbaugh running away with the individual regional title — winning by eight to become KU’s first individual women’s regional champ — the Jayhawks finished at 6 under par for three rounds, prevailing by three strokes over runner-up Arkansas.
Kansas’ roster features four.Europeans, a South African and four Americans, including Louderbaugh, who is from Buffalo, Mo.
Stephen Biden, a former women’s head coach at the University of Northern Colorado, is Kuhle’s associate head coach at KU.
Kansas came into regionals ranked No. 23 in the nation in women’s NCAA DI.
