Colorado Christian University men’s golf program adds another national honor as Sungyeop Cho named DII Gary Player International Golfer of the Year; Cho will be headed to the University of Georgia next season

The Golf Coaches Association of America has certainly taken a liking to the Colorado Christian University men’s golf team — and for good reason.
Less than a month after naming CCU head coach Mark Hull the national Division II coach of the year and CCU senior Adam Duncan the DII Jack Nicklaus Award winner as national player of the year, another GCAA national honor came the Cougars’ way this week.
Sungyeop Cho, who completed his sophomore season at CCU last month as the Cougars finished second in a playoff in the DII national championships, was named the GCAA Gary Player International Golfer of the Year for Division II.
Cho finished second in the individual national rankings for Division II golf this past season, behind only Duncan, as CCU attempted to defend its 2024 DII national championship. During the regular season, Cho claimed two tournament titles individually — the National Preview and the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate, both in the fall. And he notched six other top-10 finishes overall in the 2024-25 campaign.
This past season was Cho’s first and only at CCU as he transferred from Odessa College. Starting next season, he’ll play at the University of Georgia, a prominent DI program.
As a team last season, Colorado Christian won 10 of its 12 tournaments this season, with the lone exceptions being the NCAA nationals and the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate in February, when Division I team North Carolina-Charlotte beat CCU by four strokes in a 15-school field comprised almost entirely of DI programs.
