The Blue Championship at TPC Colorado will move back a week on the calendar for the 2027 Korn Ferry Tour season
By Gary Baines
It might seem like just yesterday that the Korn Ferry Tour started holding an annual stop at TPC Colorado, but 2027 will mark the ninth time the course in Berthoud has hosted what is now known as the Blue Championship.
The Korn Ferry Tour formally released its 2027 schedule on Wednesday, and the Blue Championship is set for its latest dates ever, though it’s a relatively small move. As the Blue Championship teased in a “Save the Date” post notice on social media a couple of months ago, the 2027 tournament is scheduled for the week of July 12-18, with the championship rounds taking place July 15-18.
That will be roughly a week later than the tournament was held this year (July 9-12). The final day of the 2027 event will be the latest — by two days — the competition at TPC Colorado has ever wrapped up. There will be no Korn Ferry Tour events the two weeks prior to the Blue Championship.
The tournament has undergone name changes over the years, but it has been held at TPC Colorado every year since 2019. It’s produced several notable champions, including Will Zalatoris (2020) and Neal Shipley (2025). This year’s winner, Ross Steelman, went on to finish the year atop the season-long KFT points list and is among those who thus earned their 2027 PGA Tour cards.
Players with strong Colorado ties expected to compete on the Korn Ferry Tour next year — barring earning PGA Tour status via Q-school — include former Air Force Academy golfer Kyle Westmoreland, Colorado native Chris Korte, former University of Colorado golfer Justin Biwer and possibly fellow former Buff Jeremy Paul.
Forty 2028 PGA Tour cards will be awarded to the top Korn Ferry Tour performers in 2027, with the top 10 having some status on the highest-level Championship Series, and the other 30 becoming Challenger Series members.
TPC Colorado played over 8,000 yards for the 2026 Blue Championship, with the par-5 13th hole stretching to 773 yards on some days.
