Former CU golfer Robyn Choi posts her first top-5 finish ever on LPGA Tour and surpasses $1 million in official career LPGA earnings

It happened in the middle of the night, Colorado time, but former University of Colorado golfer Robyn Choi shined bright on Sunday in Malaysia.

The 28-year-old native of Australia came up big in at least a couple of respects at the LPGA Tour’s Maybank Championship. Most notably, Choi finished fifth, posting the best showing of her LPGA Tour career — and her fourth career top-10, including one when she wasn’t an LPGA member. And by earning $154,872, she surpassed $1 million in official career earnings as an LPGA member — and $500,000 for 2026 alone.

Choi recorded four straight rounds in the 60s in Malaysia — 67-69-66-69 — for a 17-under-par total, which left her five strokes behind champion Miyu Yamashita of Japan. Over four rounds, Choi carded 21 birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey.

Choi’s previous best LPGA Tour showing was a sixth place — at the 2020 ISPS Handa Vic Open at a time she wasn’t an official LPGA Tour member. All her other top-10s as an LPGA player have come in 2025 and ’26. With the performance in the Maybank Championship, she jumped to 60th in the season-long LPGA points standings.

Choi, who played at CU from 2016-18, competed in her first two LPGA Tour events — both U.S. Women’s Opens (2017 and ’18) — after qualifying for them in Colorado as an amateur. Choi has also played in the Inspirato Colorado Women’s Open, recording top-10 finishes in 2022 and ’23.
